Food Animations

I used the fruit idea with these two pieces to try and get the idea of Split Personalities across using facial expressions

For this idea I used a marker pen onto oranges to draw facial expressions onto them. I think these work well because I used the green core of the orange as a nose. I think that each expression works well because it is obvious what the expression is supposed to express.

For this idea I used Photoshop to add expressions onto toaster machines so that they looked as though they were alive. I used the front toaster to be the 'Split Personality' toaster and the back toasters to be on looking in shock. I think that this idea works well as a Split Personality piece because it shows the toaster split into two.

Steven Guarnaccia
I chose to do the idea of oranges based on the idea that Steven Guarnaccia used with these images. I think it gives a humorous side to the pieces.

Sewing Workshop

This week we did a workshop on Sewing images together.
This is the best of the workshop because it shows the bonding and joining of the two personalities joining threw sewing. the text on the image helps to describe the mixture of the two and also makes the image more graphical.

I think that this image works well onto the grey background because i have used zig zag for the hair.

This image looks better on the wrong side because it is clearer to see the cotton where the image on the original looks too dark.

I did this idea by putting to images on top of each other so that they can create a multiple image. I used the face for the one on the right to sew a face over the flowers on the left. I then sewed zigzag over the hair to create a mask on the right.

This was a collage of the photocopies i did of the images. I think that the sewing effect is good because they look like precision lines where they are quite opposite.

Photoshop Together

For this idea i had two view points of the same face and merged them together on Photoshop. I think that this has worked really well and would be good to arrange the image more and add more to it. I think the idea shows the 'Split Personality' theme really well because it looks like the same person trying to get out of themselves.

Mood Boards

Today we did a mood board workshop to help develop our ideas.

I used the idea of phobias as one of my ideas because they form part of a personality with fear and the normality difference. It works well because it shows rational and irrational ideas.
I based this mood board on general phobias and used 4 of the main phobias to create and give a sense of fear and understanding. The 4 phobias were: Dogs, Clowns, Dolls and Water.

This mood board contains objects and photographs which would give people different reactions depending on their personalities and memories. It has an opposite theme using the red and green text as examples.

Experimental Workshop

Today we did a workshop for experimental drawings which were linked to my theme.
This workshop consisted of 2 minute drawings of glasses. I used grounds to make it more interesting. I used the idea of drawing glasses because glasses can be used to hide behind and this linked in with my Statement of Intent (split personalities).

I think that the scale of the glasses in this image is good because they are zoomed in and only part of them have been focused on. This image was drawn using oil pastels.

This drawing was done using graphite and was a quick 1 minute drawing. I think graphically the image is strong and works well even though the drawing of the glasses isn't strong.

I used stick and ink to draw these glasses. I don't think its as strong as the other images because it isn't as detailed but the ground works really well.

This image has three blind drawings on it using the same pair of glasses but from different perspectives. The idea of using different perspectives works well with my theme of Split Personalities because of different views and sides of the same thing but I don't think it works very well as a graphic image.

Photoshop Experiments

This was the first time I have used photoshop before. It took some time to get used to using all of the tools and ways of using it, but I did 4 pictures that I think look good. Out of them all I like the first and last pictures. I like the first picture because of how random it is and the last one because of the vibrant colours.

Textiles

When we did our textiles block we had to bring in loads of materials (non fabric) to create our own fabrics. We then used these to create garments to for someone to wear.

MUSAC in Leon 2004, Architecture - Colour

Set of Chessboards
Architects: Mansilla and Tunon
This building interests me a lot because most buildings don't use colour in this way. I think that the building has been made as attractive as possible and is very eye catching.
This is somewhere that I would love to live or work because the design that has been put into the building is outstanding.
Some of the pictures from close up don't look like they are pictures of a building because they are so colourful.

Colour Graphics- 9/11

For our Colour observations we had to pick some art from our specialist areas. I liked this piece because of the use of colour. There are no outlines and the main point of the picture is to highlight the Twin Towers. This piece is based of 9/11 and the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York.
The piece represents the image of what was, and of the hopes for a new, rebuilt future. The main colours used in the piece are red white and blue which are the american flag colours but the twin towers are represented with bright floral colours which represents the world coming together when the disaster happened.
