2D- Flower Drawing

When we were in 2D we had to use this flower to draw. We started using 3 different types of media with blind drawings and then used charcoal.

This was the first blind drawing that I did. I don't think I like it because it looks too messy but we were told that doing a blind drawing is a way of helping us loosen up and be less precise with our work.

This is the second blind drawing that I did, I also think this one is too messy.

This is the charcoal picture that I did.I had picked out a small section of the flower to draw but I don't think it looked like the flower that I was drawing. I think it was a good experience because it helped me to get used to using the charcoal.

2D- Model Ink Drawings 13th September

After we had made our models we then hung them from the ceiling and used shorter sticks to draw them, this was a lot easier to do than using the longer sticks because we had more control. when we had drawn the basic shape of the model we then had to use the left over paper from our models and masking tape to make our pictures look like the model and look like they were made of paper.

i used the masking tape on this picture over the straps on the shoes to make them look like they were made of paper. i also used ripped up paper that was left over to make the strap around the back look like paper. i then used ink to make the bottom of the shoe have the same pattern as the bottom of the model.

i also used masking tape for the straps with this picture. but i used ink and emulsion to make the picture have a different effect to the first picture.

2D- 3D Model 12th September

When we did our 2D work we used two of the pictures that we did in the first part of the project and ripped them up to make a 3D model. We made these with the paper and masking tape.  In my model I tried to make it as 3D as possible and as realistic as I could.  I found this quite easy because I did 'Product Design' for my A-Levels so we had to do a lot of model making.

2D- Ink Drawings 12th September

Firstly we had to pick an object to draw and the object I chose was a Jelly shoe because I found it to be the most interesting shape and I thought it would make a good picture.

At first I found it difficult to get the hang of drawing freely and with no precision, we did the drawings with the shoe hanging from string and the paper on the floor and used long sticks dipped into ink. I really enjoyed doing this because I think it made me look at the art work in a different way and realise it wasn't all about perfection.

This is the first picture that I did with the ink. I did this one with my left hand and I think the lines on it look less precise and more free.

This is the second drawing I did with the sticks, I also used my left hand for this drawing and I think this one has too many thick lines and it doesn't look as 3D as it could do because there aren't enough lines on the sides to show the 3D object.

the next drawings we did were with our right hands. I found this to be a lot more accurate which I'm not sure is a good thing for some of the lines used. with this drawing there is evidence of the object being 3D from the back straps of the shoe so I think this adds a good effect to the drawing.

This is the final drawing that we did and with this I tried to get more of the detail in it which is why there are dots on the back part of the shoe, on the real shoe there were circles for grip underneath, I don't think this worked as well as I expected because they just look like random dots.

I think that using the ink on a whole helped me because it showed me a different type of art that there is other than precision. I really enjoyed the day in the studio doing a different type of work.
